  • Author: ushinzomr

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for frosting)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Chocolate shavings or sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth (the batter will be thin).
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. For the frosting, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  9. Once the cakes are cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of whipped frosting on top.
  10. Add the second layer and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining whipped frosting.
  11. Decorate with chocolate shavings or sprinkles as desired.
  12. Slice, serve, and enjoy your Taurus Cake!

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider adding a tablespoon of espresso powder to the batter.
