- 2 cups chocolate chips
- Royal icing for decoration (optional)

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers are soft.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, decorate with royal icing, food coloring, and sprinkles as desired.
