These strawberries are drizzled with a zesty lime tequila glaze that elevates their natural sweetness, making them the perfect festive treat for Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup tequila (preferably silver)
- 1 tablespoon lime zest
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, lime juice, tequila, lime zest, and salt. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely, about 2-3 minutes.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and let the glaze cool for 10 minutes.
- Place the hulled strawberries in a large bowl and pour the glaze over them, tossing gently to coat.
- Let the strawberries marinate in the glaze for at least 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Serve the strawberries chilled, drizzled with extra glaze if desired.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, substitute tequila with additional lime juice.
- These strawberries can be served over ice cream or as a topping for cakes.
